Lightbulb moments-nothing better!

Filling my student’s toolbox is my absolute favorite!

Each lesson in a level (or book) starts with a “new teaching”. It’s an exciting time as the kids learn a new concept AND they access new games for that lesson. A lesson can take between 2-7 tutoring sessions to fully flesh out as we start working with words on tiles, words in print, phrases, sentences and lastly controlled text stories. Through each of those pieces, the practice and repetition of mastering that new teaching is how the concept becomes their own tool. Sometimes it clicks right away, other times it can take awhile. Either way, when it does click, and the smile is revealed on their faces as they implement said tool correctly-TADA!

As we continually loop back so as to not forget the previously gained tools, and their individual student folders with the representations of these tools (via pages of rules and flashcards) gets thicker, well, it’s a physical representation of the hard work these kids are doing. When the kids report back seeing these rules/tools in action in the world around them-it’s PRICELESS.

So here is to more light bulb moments to brighten the world!
