8 1/2 years and we are FINISHED!

10 Barton Books: A Year Full of Memories

So many Joke of the Day moments that kept us laughing.

Two bone marrow transplants that reminded us of strength, resilience, and hope.

Countless shared songs that became the soundtrack of our sessions together.

One drone license passed—and definitely worth celebrating.

Plenty of Zoom sessions that kept us connected and gaining more tools.

Three or four gymnastics meets attended, cheering loudly every step of the way.

Numerous brain farts between us that gave us even more reasons to laugh.

A couple Drone Soccer matches where I was amazed and impressed by your skills!

Looking back, it’s amazing how many moments—big and small—filled these years with joy, perseverance, and connection.

Our 1st 5ish years conquering Mt. Barton

Cody was my first Eureka student beginning Fall 2018. We figured it out together just before an unexpected health diagnosis came for Cody, which required many medical treatments including chemotherapy and 2 bone marrow transplants. We were zooming in 2019, which meant he could continue progressing forward, at a pace that worked for his health/energy levels.

As a cancer survivor as well, we commiserated/encouraged/prayed and realized the gift we’ve both been given in 2nd (and 3rd in Cody’s case), chances at life. We became drinking buddies (which meant that we both were not good at hydration, so we encouraged one another to take a drink of water when the other was doing so via Zoom). We talked hacks and strategies for hands cramping, poor circulation and scan anxiety even to this day. What a gift to have this unique commonality to share.

The 2nd half of our journey on Mt. Barton

I have known Cody since he was a toddling 2 year old, but only well these last 8.5 years. I will miss him TERRIBLY as once we cease sharing this activity together, it’s inevitable, the time and frequency is never the same. But, I will make efforts to stay connected as I know he/his family will as well.

I’m so grateful for the gift of being entrusted to fill his toolbox and to have this friendship with him and his sweet family. Go soar Cody, as I know you will. You have many talents, skills an a passion for life that inspires. I can’t wait to see you do your things!

MUCH love, Ms. Rosanna
